Traveling with diabetes requires preparation both before and during your trip. Here are 11 tips to help you ensure that your diabetes interfere not with the pleasures of travel.
1. Consult your doctor at least one month before your departure to make sure your diabetes is under control. If you need to perform a stabilizer, a month will give you enough time. The same month, should let your body calm down after immunization plans necessary in order to get these same time.
2. Get a letter from your doctor stating that you are diabetic, and listing the various medicines and supplies that you carry with you. Otherwise, you might have trouble passing through airport security and international border crossings.
3. Also get a prescription for insulin or other diabetes medications. Even if you should have enough syringes bands and medicine to last throughout the duration of your trip, it's always good to have a prescription in case you lose them, they become invalid due to extreme weather, or your trip takes longer than you originally planned.
4. Wear an identification bracelet announcing that you have diabetes, and also carry a small card saying in the local language sites you visit.
5. Learn to express requirements specific diabetic in local languages. Since you probably will not know how to pronounce the words, the simplest way is to include a printed map and the point just what you mean.
